Veneers Wellesley

Dr. Cao working on veneersAre you ready to love your smile again? Dental veneers offer an excellent solution for restoring minor cosmetic concerns, such as chipped teeth, discoloration, and tooth size discrepancies. I can also use porcelain veneers to redesign the size, shape, and shade of your teeth for a complete smile transformation.

A veneer covers the front surface of your tooth with a thin layer of composite resin or ceramic porcelain that eliminates cosmetic concerns and can change the appearance of your smile.

Which Problems Can Dental Veneers Fix?

Whether you choose composite or porcelain veneers, both types can address these concerns.
Size Discrepancies
If oddly shaped or sized teeth diminish your smile, achieve a more symmetrical look with veneers.
Discoloration
If you have stained teeth that don’t respond to bleaching, veneers are an excellent solution.
Excessive Wear
Did tooth grinding cause early wear or damage? Veneers can rebuild excessively worn teeth.
Gapped Teeth
Veneers can fill spaces or gaps between teeth that detract from your smile.
Chipped Teeth
Veneers are an excellent solution for repairing chipped or broken teeth.

Frequently Asked Questions

Porcelain veneers are a fantastic way to transform your smile. With proper care, they can look beautiful and last for many years. At Wellesley Hills Dental, I provide my patients comprehensive guidance on maintaining their new smiles.

How to Protect Your Smile Investment

The good news is that caring for porcelain veneers is quite similar to caring for your natural teeth. Consistent oral hygiene is key.

Brush twice daily with a non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Avoid whitening toothpastes, which can be too harsh and may scratch the veneer's surface. Be gentle but thorough when flossing—use a non-waxed floss or a floss specifically designed for cosmetic dental work.

One crucial recommendation is to protect your veneers from potential damage. If you grind your teeth at night, I'll create a custom night guard to prevent unnecessary stress on the veneers. Athletes or those participating in contact sports should also use a protective mouth guard.

While porcelain is stain-resistant, it's wise to minimize consuming deeply pigmented foods and drinks like red wine, coffee, and dark berries. If you do consume these, rinse your mouth or brush soon after. Avoid using your teeth as tools—no opening packages or biting hard objects!

Schedule Your Next Dental Appointment

Regular dental checkups are essential. I recommend professional cleanings every six months, where we'll carefully examine your veneers and ensure they remain in perfect condition. With proper care, your porcelain veneers can maintain their beautiful, natural-looking appearance for 10 to 15 years.

What’s the Difference Between Porcelain and Composite Veneers?

While both types of veneers can address similar smile problems, some significant differences exist between them and the procedures needed to complete them.

Porcelain Veneers in Wellesley Hills

Ceramic porcelain veneers are ideal for completely transforming your smile—think “Hollywood” smile. These veneers are handcrafted by a dental lab to my specifications and custom-shaded to match or enhance your smile. They’re also considered a permanent solution because I remove a small amount of tooth enamel to create the perfect fit.

The porcelain veneers are completed in two appointments, and the dental lab finishes the final restorations in two to three weeks.

During the first visit, I prepare your teeth for veneers, taking impressions for the dental lab to use in fabrication. I’ll also create temporary veneers you’ll wear for the next few weeks, which will help you get used to your new smile.

The final result is a stunning smile with perfect symmetry and natural aesthetics. Together, we’ll create a smile you’ll be excited about and proud of!

Composite Veneers at Wellesley Hills Dental

woman smiling after getting veneersComposite veneers are an additive procedure, meaning I add the material to your tooth without impacting any natural tooth structure. I customize the composite resin to blend seamlessly into your tooth, ensuring your composite veneers complement your smile.

Composite veneers are typically less expensive than ceramic porcelain, and the procedure can usually be completed in one visit to our Wellesley Hills dental office.

The first step in determining whether veneers are the right solution for your needs is to schedule an evaluation with me and my team. Contact Wellesley Hills Dental at (781) 237-6511 to schedule an appointment.
